Misfit Adventure: Who we are and What we do. Dice to Digits Making a RPG from start to finish.

Misfit Adventure really seeks to take you from Dice to Digits. We are first and foremost hobbyists who are good at a lot of different things and hope to combine them. We really do not expect to be a AAA games publisher or writer of novels. We want to take a really fun Table Top RPG idea and show you the player just how far you can take it either alone or with a small group of friends. We were just happy to get people playing and learning.


What is our Game?


Turmoil of Trolls (ToT)

Turmoil of Trolls is our trademarked RPG. It consists of two ten sided dice as all you need to play a fun adventure as you seek fame, infamy or maybe just some reprieve from the Trolls running about the land of Quiperia. You can play as one of five races in our first edition with as many shenanigans as you wish. Similar to D&D we are operating under the Open Game License and will have that out shortly. The main point being, we want you to make the Game You Want and it be yours. We love to be credited and if we are good at our jobs you'll stay with us. But your work is yours and as long as you follow the rules we lay out you can make and profit from what is yours. We will make this clear though that NO racism, sexism, bigotry of any kind, hate speech or threatening language to real people is allowed with our content. Ever. ToT is inspired by the toxicity we see on social media every day. It's great content for our game adventures, but we won't be a party to the bullying and other harms seen on the Social Media landscape.

Trolls make it work, even if its the hard way.

In addition to the adventure on table top, we want to take this from Dice to Digits. The concept of Troll Engine for us is that the mechanics are simple enough to translate to and make it work to program a full video game. For right now our samples are from RPG Maker specifically RPG Maker MZ and RPG Maker Unite. They have a wide variety of assets that anyone can make along with an easy character generator for new characters. Their licensing also allows for the use of assets commercially and on websites and we will ensure credit is due. But for you the player, you have the ability to get something on Itch.io or other websites quickly.


Why RPG Maker to start?

RPG Maker is the easiest and most direct way to make a table top game come to life. Godot, Unreal Engine and Unity are free (with some stipulations), but they have a lot of features that can be overwhelming. The other issue is game assets and its a lot of time getting the right assets just for something that works. RPG maker simplifies that process to start. We want to teach people the other engines too and there is nothing stopping anyone from using our Game rules for a project. In fact we encourage it. But we are looking at hobbyists first and the simplicity of getting something out there is just there with this. We want you to make the adventure come to life and we want that to take as little time as possible.


Most importantly we teach how to get the game working with no additional plugins. We worked from Dice to make it work and want players who have already paid for these game making software to just have something functional. Add-ons and plugins can come later, especially for more professional games, but we believe you should be able to make something on your own that works. If we have character concepts that don't come from the main websites for free, we will make them available.

What are our Goals?


Our immediate goal is to get our first full adventure out to as many people as possible and some of our initial courses to show what people can expect. We will in the short term be launching our first courses along with character sheets and tutorials on how to make different types of RPGs using our RPG. All courses will have an adventure attached to them that we hope is fun and enjoyable to all. In the mid term we are going to have our first big campaign out by 2025. Getting started is hard. We know it, and we are hoping to make it that much easier in the future. Hope you stay tuned!
